Maxwell and Huasun Signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement on 20GW HJT NBB Module Stringer Equipment

In recent days, Suzhou Maxwell Technologies Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Maxwell") and Anhui Huasun Energy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huasun New Energy" or "Huasun") signed the strategic cooperation frame agreement. According to this agreement, Huasun New Energy will release the orders of no less than 20GW HJT NBB module stringer equipment by stages within three years, and the first phase of the purchase contract for 5.4GW NBB stringer equipment was signed on September 16. Both parties will promote the HJT technological innovation, as well as the cost decreasing and benefit increasing of products, to accelerate the popularization of HJT+NBB as the next-generation main-stream PV technology.


Mr. Zhou Jian, Chairman of Maxwell, and Mr. Xu Xiaohua, Chairman of Huasun New Energy, signed the agreement on behalf of both companies.

  • In-depth Cooperation for the Win-win Prospect

Founded in July 2020, Huasun New Energy is a technologically innovative enterprise dedicated to the technological development, application, and scale production of ultra-high efficiency N-type HJT solar energy wafers, solar cells, and modules.


Since 2020, as leading companies in the promotion of HJT technology industrialization, both parties have reached the cooperation on the whole production line equipment of 17.8GW HJT high-efficiency solar cells production line, establishing a solid cooperation partnership. The 5.4GW HJT solar cell project of Hefei Huasun, which was signed in the first half of this year, adopts the whole production line of bifacial microcrystalline HJT high-efficiency solar cell,independently developed by Maxwell. The equipment will begin to be moved into the Huasun Hefei factory at the end of September.


This cooperation is based on the friendly cooperation in previous sessions, as well as the outstanding performance of Maxwell NBB module stringer equipment in Huasun's pilot line. The 5.4GW NBB stringer equipment purchased by Huasun, which will be implemented in the production of modules compatible with the solar cells of Hefei project, will be delivered from the end of 2023. 


  • Cost Decreasing and Benefit Increasing to Release Unlimited Potential

From the customers' perspective, and to further reduce the consumption of silver paste in HJT solar cells and modules, Maxwell develops the second-generation NBB with the None Busbar technology, as well as its stringer equipment. This technology removes all busbars on the solar cell, reducing at least 30% of silver paste consumption. It can also formulate an effective welding alloy layer, which not only improves modules’ power and stability, but also reduces manufacturing costs.


The Maxwell NBB module stringer equipment has obtained 3 PCT international patents, 7 national invention patents, and 8 new utility model patents.

Maxwell HJT Solar Energy NBB Module Stringer Equipment


Compared to SMBB, Maxwell's NBB features the following advantages: 

1. Saving of at least 30% silver paste consumption compared to the ordinary SMBB, which lays the foundation for the application of silver-coated copper paste with a 30% silver content; 

2. High module CTM, with 1% improvement of power; 

3. The adoption of ultra-fine and ultra-soft wires, with a 30% reduction in the gram weight of the film, making it more compatible with thinner silicon wafers; 

4. Easy alignment to prevent wires deviation, and uniform temperature to prevent the trend of overheating.


Maxwell’s NBB is currently the only 0BB technology that uses welding first, featuring the following advantages: 

1. Detectable welding tensile, making the whole process controllable and reliable; 

2. No need for special film, reducing the overall cost; 

3. Full welding joints and high module CTM; 

4. The adoption of medium-temperature wires to prevent the impact of hot spots.
